Handprints and footprints for Christmas keepsakes

handprint and footprint for christmas keepsakes |marmite et ponpon

Before having kids, Christmas was that glamorous night full of festivities and gifts, delicious food and lots of booze, and back home for the family gathering.

Now, with my boys (nady 5 and joud 2) are here, Christmas is not just that night, it is 24 days and 24 nights to it. Beautiful decorations can’t be those expensive intact objects, they are keepsakes done with tiny hands and big love. Red or green are not just ordinary colors. Santa becomes mom’s best friend and chocolate can replace a meal . . . Yes i turn into an elf to be able to communicate with santa and change the letters (toys) many times!

Christmas is more than just this night or day, it’s the anticipation to it that makes you live the season beaming with excitement and joy.  Against all odds, my Christmas is not a classic one, the star is not anymore on top of the tree, it fell from the summit to spark in their eyes and Jesus left his crib to be born in their heart. My Christmas is THEM!

Christmas Keepsakes, kids will love doing their footprint and handprint as christmas tree, snowman, santa and rudolph.

Very easy and fun project to keep for the life. We spent a joyful time together doing them. Wish you lots of laughters as much and more than we had. And let the magic of the season start!

Snowman breakfast

snowman.breakfastChristmas fever is spreading throughout our house all times! No doubt, we wake up so excited thinking of Christmas; Nady starts by a “bonjour sapin”(good morning to the Christmas tree), he checks all the decorations especially the ones he participated in doing, then he goes to the advent calendar to check his daily treat. Today i wanted to surprise him with a christmassy breakfast: Snowman on a plate!

snowman breakfast.nadyIt’s so exciting to start the day with this beautiful breakfast, it takes 10 minutes to do this snowman, and it grants a whole day of joy and excitement on your kid’s face. Just priceless!

So easy to do, follow the step by step scheme.

how to do snowman breakfastYou will need: 2 slices of bread, spreading cheese, carrots for the buttons and nose, cucumber for the hat and mouth, olive for the eyes, and lettuce for the scarf.

Snowman fridge – crafts for tiny hands

fridge snowmanAt christmas, people find themselves shopping for fancy decorations, huge and expensive trees that they compete over (as if there is a reward at the end of the season)and they end up paying leg and arm to decorate their houses. The result is forbidding their children from touching anything or enjoying the festivities.

The only reward that matters is seeing my son enjoying a real Christmas and living it to bits! To your kids, touching, discovering and playing with the colorful decorations means more than just admiring. Therefore, i never buy any decoration that i wouldn’t let him touch. In a previous post i showed you how to make handmade ornaments , my son loves to decorate and redecorate his own tree with no restrictions, we call it “le sapin de Nady”. The best way to introduce Christmas to your toddler is letting him live it.

Today we are doing a snowman fridge! The simplest ideas are the most striking. I enjoy crafting with Nady, especially he has a go at arts and crafts, i find it as fun and quality time together. All you need is self adhesive colored papers, but if you don’t have you can use regular colored ones and clear contact papers.

fridge snowman how to do

  • 5 black small circles to make the mouth
  • 2 bigger black circles for the eyes
  • an orange triangle for the nose
  • any colors you like to make 7-10 rectangles to form the scarf and 3-4 circles for the buttons.

If your fridge is not white you can still do it the dishwasher or a white door. I love the rich simplicity!
